Simply video to help some people asking difference between two kind of sensor: Cmos and Ccd.

In reality in this video there are some other difference, like Tx power 10mW Vs 200mW at 2,4Ghz frequency.

  • as said before, this is a very helpful post, thanks for sharing

  • You must have done something very wrong with the CMOS setup, or cheated by closing the IRIS. I have both, CCD and CMOS. As for light, they read and perform the SAME! CCDs are immune to flash and strobe lights, hook up camera on a car, while CMOS for these is horrible. One advantage CMOS has is that it is immune to vertical smear while CCDs suck at it. As long as you do NOT expose CMOS to strobes or mount it to a car, you are good to go.

  • Superb video. Thanks for posting for the YouTube community. I'm evaluating video cameras for a neighborhood security system and tested a CMOS based system last week. Totally sucked! Now I know why... Will test a CCD based system next. Again, thanks and kind regards.

  • The CMOS sensor exhibits a superior dynamic range and higher fullwell capacity. No image saturation - even when pointing straight into the sun. Very impressive. Looks like a keeper!

  • All things being equil,eg resolution and lens system, with power requirements asside,CCD is better than CMOS,but remember not all CCD sensors are equil either,i would prefer the advanced Motorola over the Ti CCDs, Ti bottom out at 1180nM,whare the Motorola extends the QE as low as 1250nM (1.25uM) better for NIR videography..

  • i think both, im using CMOS and i just love it

  • what would be the best for a music video?? 3CCD or CMOS camera?

  • I'm an engineer of CCD's and CMOS image sensors. Are those same pixel number? Maybe not. CMOS image sensors don't have synchronism of image, so these don't suit for large number of pixels without electronic shutter. We usually use them for mobile phone cameras and DSC's. If CMOS has small number of pixel, the lens used in that system is not very good. On the other hand, CCD's are made with NMOS process. Therefore it's common sense CCD's use more electric power than CMOS image sensor.
