at last a good well balanced and level headed report (no rants)
as an artist i agree it needs policing but not the SOPA way because the courts get the money never the artist.
I reckon if users could dnload anything anywhere but had a simple prompt to say 'copyright detection: this dnload can be added to your internet bill for $1 - click here' i think it would massively increase sales and save the industry the bother of selling it themselves.
I realise this is impossible to do but a nice dream

1). Hard to believe copyright law cannot be upheld in an entirely automated manner in dealing with digitized data.
2) The shutdown of Megaupload rather reveals SOPA and PIPA are not necessary for enforcing copyright law on the web.
Hundreds of millions of dollars each movie isnt enough for them? Greedy fucks.
