Phone in use: Samsung SGH-U600

encoded video using http://mediacoder.sourceforge.net/. File was converted to 3gp at CIF resolution which the phone supports. The phone is only capable to play videos at 15fps, but looks fairly smooth. Also, subtitles are pretty easy to read if you watch anime or foreign films. File size before conversion was 170mb...after conversion to 3gp size output is 85.6mb. By the way I converted the whole episode. The clip I uploaded only shows a few seconds worth.

You will have to make sure the latest quicktime is installed and avisynth which you can download here http://downloads.sourceforge.net/avisynth2/AviSynth_070518.exe?modtime=117950...

  • hey help me what is vga resolution coment back please thank you

  • Hi, sorry for the late response. I don't log in to Youtube often. VGA resolution is 640x480. The phone screen only supports qvga though which is 320x240.

  • May i know exact settings for video? THanks!

  • For mediacoder the settings are as follows:

    1. resolution = 352x288 or you can do 320x240.

    2. encoder = xvid

    3. container or extension = .3gp

    4. bitrate based = 800 kbps. I usually set it to this rate first. Most phones can play at this bitrate. You can experiment and increase the bitrate to get better quality.

    4. audio = nero encoder, 64bit, and cbr (constant bitrate)

    5. for the cropping option I put "expand to fit" so the video retains its aspect ratio.

Let me know if you are having trouble

  • This is really good and everything but the sounds messedup and i dont know how to change it : its at Format LC-ACC QUALITY 80 IF THAT HELPS

ive been trying to do this for days so please help!

  • Hi there. Are you using mediacoder as well? Is the sound cutting in and out or stuttering? If so, try setting the mode to CBR (constant bitrate) and increasing the bitrate to 128. LC-AAC should be the right setting so you are right on that.

  • what are the best settings to render a video for this phone to watch in full screen?

  • there is a limit to video size. mp4 in MB? I noticed that video large are not recognized, and if divided into smaller files, U600 can read them. If you know what this MB size limit? ( google translate ^^ )
