The Rotating Assembly is Theos loose Detroit collective revolving around 21 artists including Genevieve (known for vocals with Recloose), Maat Lo (aka Billy Lo), Marcellus Pittman (recorded/DJs for/with 3 Chairs), Rick Wilhite (3 Chairs), Warren Harris (recorded with Dan Curtin), Andres, Karen Bosco (most vocals) John Dougalas (trumpet), King Sunshine & Trent Mitchell (double bass) among others, with all tracks written, produced and masterminded by Theo Parrish himself. This triple pack is by far and away the most anticipated Sound Signature release in some time, and showcases the most developed work to date from the low-slung, deep paced, Eq-mashing master of the go-slow tempo in deepest House tradition. To make things clear - Track C on this collection - Orchestra Hall - is quite possibly the most advanced, inspired, mould-breaking track Theo has ever recorded. Structured around layers of strings that just ceaselessly build and build, the bassline staggers and makes for a listening experience that grips you in the lowest part of the stomach and refuses to let go. Hardly attached to the generic confines of House music or any other convenient structures, moments like these expose Parrish as a true sound innovator. A true master. Melt and Take Me, meanwhile, succumb to a more overtly sparkling deep House ethic, raw vocals and live instrumentation, but the augmentation is unmistakably Detroit in the deepest sense. Mess I Made delivers the Rotating Assembly in full-lineup, a largely live loungey affair complete with shimmering Rhodes and sweeping live percussion to caress the smokey aroma. A mighty triple-pack, worth double the price of admission for the unbeleivable Orchestra Hall alone. Killer.
