When polluting Leaf Blowers take over a city, blanketing it with siren-pitched noise and blasting hazardous particulates into the air we breathe, eventually the citizens say enough! Quiet Orinda depicts how five Orinda families suffer from the effects of leaf blower noise and air pollution, and what can be done about it. Its the first community-oriented documentary dealing with this important health and lifestyle issue, making its debut here at the California Independent Film Festival!
The Quiet Orinda community group is organizing to effect a ban of the use of leaf blowers in Orinda, as have scores of other cities across the USA: www.quietorinda.com

Is this a joke? Sure leaf blowers are annoying but do u really have to overreact to such a small issue? And how do you plan to stop people from using them? You talk about the workers using them all the time, so what are you going to do, ask them to use a rake which will take them 3 times as long to do?

This just keeps getting dumber. I saw your video for the Haaga sweeper cleaning the Orinda park and I just laughed. REALLY? I don't know about you, but I am happy to have somebody use a leaf blower to clear the path in about 5 minutes instead of take what looked to me like at least 3 times longer using that stupid machine. I would much rather have my tax dollars go towards road improvement or ANYTHING else rather than to pay somebody more money to do the same job. THIS IS SO STUPID!

Maybe noise and air pollution don't rank as high as other issues facing Lamorinda, but this seems like a cheap and easy fix for something that irritates a good number of people in this community. And for those who are not affected, consider this: a ban on leaf blowers just might have an uplifting effect on home demand and, thus, home values. Every real estate agent who performs work in Orinda is likely to tout a 'no leaf blower' benefit to living here.

Hahaha what a joke!!! I have lived in Orinda my entire life and have NEVER once thought to myself how nice it would be to not hear leaf blowers. How about you guys fight for something that really matters. This makes Orinda look SOOOO bad. I am ashamed to call these people neighbors.

Gas powered leaf blowers increase the presence of airborne particles, which may cause problems for persons suffering from asthma, hay fever, or other upper respiratory ailments.
Los Angeles Municipal (LAMC) Section 112. 04 (c) bans the use of the gas powered leaf blower device to minimize the nuisance and health related problems attributed to this type of equipment.
Gas powered leaf blowers can't be used within 500 feet of a residence.
