A man lies down to die. He is strapped to a bed and his left arm is punctured with a crude yet fatal drip.

He is not alone. Over 1300 prisoners in the Philippines are on death row, awaiting their lethal injection. Among them are women and even children. The rising number of executions is part of a crackdown on crime -- Zero Tolerance Filipino style. The man in charge of this campaign is Ping Lacson of the Philippines National Police. He was nick-named Dirty Harry when he broke a big gang of Manila bank robbers and took no prisoners. Instead eleven suspects were shot dead in suspicious circumstances. "I would rather be feared than loved ... as long as I get things done", he says. And he is getting things done. In his first six months petty crime is down 30 percent and drug arrests have doubled. While politicians score points, human rights activists and leaders of the Catholic Church call for an abolition of the death penalty.

  • " Over 1300 prisoners in the Philippines are on death row, awaiting their lethal injection. Among them are women..."

So a woman who murdered should get a less severe punishment then a man? How is executing a woman worse than executing a man ?

  • Absolute bullshit on anyone who lets murderers go free. It's very simple you KILL someone then YOU get KILLED too.

And not this lethal injection nonsense, i'm talking that if someone for example shot an innocent person in the chest then when your time on death row is up the officer/warden or whatever you wanna call him, takes the killer outside and at point blank range is shot in the chest too so he/she can suffer like the innocent victim did.

This, this is the REAL meaning of JUSTICE.

  • Capital punishment in the Philippines has a varied history and was abolished on June 24, 2006 (the second time since 1987).

Filipinos have mixed opinions about the death penalty, with many opposing it on religious and humanitarian grounds, while others advocate it as a way of deterring crimes.

  • killing is not justice !

  • Execution for Muslims in Britain is a must. Any crime including wearing their cloak of terror or reading their book of tyranny

  • @KingRooney89 an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. * Gandhi.

  • @KingRooney89 Cops in the USA kill innocent people every year should they get the death penalty,or how about drunk drivers that kill people?

  • Erm, Killing a killer wont bring back the person who was killed.

  • @freetaiwanblog uh you are aware this is a documentary from the 90's right? the death penalty has been banned in the philippines since 2006, in fact the maximum sentence for prisoners now is 40 years with the chance at parole in 20 years.

  • @CCareTTaker So can we just be igmorant of gods law eye for an eye

the death penalty existed in christs time and since eve aye of the fruit ofthe tree of knowledge of right and wrong good and evil.

in the philippines the court systems are broken and corrupt therefor people resort to personal lethal judgments... dont do the crime unless your willing to accept the consequences of your actions.....

FOR THOSE ON DEATH ROW...KILL THEM ALL AND LET GOD SORT THEM OUT
