This is I Know Him So Well from the Davis Musical Theater Company (community theater) production of Chess (Jan 2011) and I had the pleasure of playing Svetlana. This is the duet and the scene between Florence and Svetlana. Please feel free to leave comments. I hope you enjoy it!

  • @filmbuff000 Thank you so much! It is true that there are many different versions of this show and lyrics do often change in the songs. I think in this version (the original broadway), Florence and Svetlana are singing that what Anatoly needs is the other girl, not themselves. I believe that's why Florence sings of how Svetlana has the security that Anatoly needs and Svetlana sings about how Florence is the fantasy and freedom.

  • Bravo! Lovely voice. Wish I had known about this performance; I would have come to see it. I've seen several productions and one of them was in Davis, but many years ago. There is a slight change in assignment of lyrics from what I am used to (but of course every production is extremely different due to dramatic changes in the book, etc., over the years). Florence usually sings of fantasy and freedom and Svetlana of security... makes more sense, given their perspectives/situations. But loved it!
