I think it's because when boys do something dumb they're called out on it and taught to be smarter, but when girls do something dumb people are afriad of hurting their feelings and fragile self-esteem so they're told it's ok and that it wasn't dumb, so a lot of girls don't learn from their mistakes, they learn to ignore their mistakes, rely on denial or blame someone else.
