Meet Ruby

Ruby is Julia's new friend and they have something in common. Every year in the United States, 13,000 children are diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, that's 35 kids each day. But unfortunately none of them live near by. It's nice for her to have a friend to share her feelings with!

i was reading that thing about the warning signs of type 1.  they seem so cryptic. how did you guys even know something was going on? :)

She was going potty a lot... and drinking like a fish.

We thought it might be attention seeking behavior, or a urinary tract infection, so we brought her to the doctor. I couldn't stop shaking when they said her glucose was off the chart.

For a while my mom thought she had type 1 diabetes because she was having some of the symptoms. It was so scary to think that there might be something wrong. It turned out to be something else. Julia looks like she is having a good time outside! I hope she is doing well!!!

wow that seriously must of been so shocking, like totally out of the blue. and 500 is soooo high. before my grandmother went to the alzheimer's home we would have to check her blood everyday and my mother would cry when it was above 250! after that i started taking care of my grandmother more often... hehe. still, i wonder what drinking water has to do with too much glucose in your blood. glad your little one is doing better. :)
