High precision threading performance is essential for the oil, gas and mechanical engineering sectors. A stable threading tool and cutting edge which remains rigid in extreme forces, is vital for this precision. Sandvik Coromant now launches CoroThread 266, a group of ultra-rigid threading tools, benefitting from new threading technology to give the insert ultra-high stability and limit movement in the holder pocket. This stability is achieved with an iLock interface between insert-shim and tool holder pocket.
Looks like an extremely good design improvement. Rigidity and horsepower is the name of the game in machining but if a shop has people who abuse tool holders (and there are a lot of those people) it would be a complete waste of money.
