Hazel was indeed a wonderful person - and an American treasure. "Coal Miner's Grave" is one of her greatest songs. Hazel came from a family of West Virginia coal miners and she never forgot her roots...

A wonderful woman that I'm sure is now being rewarded in heaven.

Thank you Hazel Dickens for a life spent bringing attention to the plight of coal miners and their families. She was a shinning example of someone who stood with the oppressed, instead of on top of them. Heaven help those who do if we were all to get united someday. You will be missed Hazel.

Hazel Dickens is a rare gem found only in Appalachia.

I would love to hear her sing this But change a few words. For He's only a Trucker, And its only a Old Truckers Grave.

Nobody does minor songs like Hazel. And that dobro melts me.

Hazel Dickens passed away in her sleep at the age of 75 today, April 22, 2011

i haven't seen anything about blankinship that was more true in my life...my cousin was supposed to be underground that day...but thak god that he wasn't and he is still here...we should hang blankinship out to dry...or better yet...let him suffer the way that those 29 men did...
