Actually, it's the Declaration of Independence - not the Constitution, preamble or anyhwere else - that lists life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness as inalienable rights.
What are you so afraid of? Do you really think if two people of the same sex get married God will come and smite the USA? In the Biblical references you made, you claim that God punished those who committed homosexual acts- not homosexuals getting married- and since homosexuality has been so prevalent for so long, what wrath are you afraid of ? Why not love everyone and do unto them as you would have them do unto you- the most important of Jesus's teachings. Jesus says nothing of homosexuality
Regardless of what you believe, I, just as you, have a right to believe what I think is right and good- I believe I'm just as good and normal as any other person- different from some, but we're all different. We all deserve the right to happiness and love and the same rights as our fellow citizens. Also, I'd like to know how homosexuals getting married effects your family? If you live your life as you see fit and just , what effect does two people of the same sex getting married have on you?
what do you mean letting them have those things? Who gives you the right to decide which rights people do and do not receive? I understand that God and the Bible are important to some people, but you have to understand that not everyone believes what you do, and that forcing people to live by your beliefs is not right- we all have to live in this country,so we should all have the same rights- as a homosexual and non-Christian I want to be able to have a family and marry- I should have that right
You are misinterpreting the scriptures. You are referring to laws & commandments that were created for a time period known as the Age of Law & some were not even created by God. If you study the WHOLE Bible, you can see that many of the old testament laws were changed when the New Testament & the Age of Grace began. I & hundreds of people that I have met live by the words of the Bible every day much less the millions around the world who do and we have found it extremely beneficial and relevant.
Because letting homosexuals have those things is immoral and from what I've seen, morals and economics go hand in hand. If 1 goes down, so does the other. I didn't say gays would be damned, I was saying that countries who support gays are asking for God to condemn them. It has a lot to do with me, I don't want my family & I to have to live in a country that is immoral and/or supports immoral things and yes I already do when it comes to alot of areas, but this one effects us in more ways.
...should we continue to employ draconian punishments such as stoning our daughters in the street if they have sexual intercourse before being wed, or killing those who covet our possessions since the Bible allows for these types of sentences? Not to mention, selling our children in to slavery- these are all permitted by the Bible. Pretty irrelevant for our society today but it made sense then- only goes to show you that we can't live our lives by a book written for a specific culture and time
