The video is craptastic, but tis all we've got. We didn't even think about videoing it. Mark's parents thought to bring their (VHS) video camera and tripod it for the evening. This is a rip from the VHS.
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO MADE OUR NIGHT AMAZING. WE LOVE YOU ALL!!!
Mark - Several have asked when Marci and I are getting married and I've given several answers. Actually, I've given everybody the same answer. But the real answer is - right now.
Ceremony
Officiant:
We are gathered here today to witness the coming together of two people, Marci Turner and Mark Holcombe , whose hearts and spirits are entwined as one. They now desire to profess before all the world their intention henceforth to walk the road of life together.
To these two people, this marriage signifies the unification of two spirits in love. Marci and Mark have come to witness before us, telling of their love for each other. You have been asked to gather here to witness and share in the joy of this union.
Officiant to Groom:
Mark, repeat after me your ring ceremony:
Love is the desire of the self to unite with another to the end of personal completeness. With you I am whole; your life and my life is one life. I vow to travel with you united-as-one on the path of enlightenment, for as long as we both shall live. I vow to love you and sustain you in the covenant of our love. I commend to you this ring as a symbol of my love.
(Unscripted yell from Peyton!!!!)
(Officiant - We're not done yet!)
Officiant to Bride:
Do you, Marci, knowing this man's love for you and returning it, accept his ring and vows, take Mark to be your husband?
Brides Response (Oh, I do!)
Officiant to Bride:
Marci, repeat after me your ring ceremony:
Love is the desire of the self to unite with another to the end of personal completeness. You understand me, and you challenge me to be the best person I can be. With you I have found my home and am complete. I promise to share this world with you, and to be by your side for as long as we both shall live. I vow to love you and sustain you in the covenant of our love. I commend to you this ring as a symbol of my love.
Officiant to Groom:
Do you, Mark, knowing this woman's love for you and returning it, accept her ring and vows, take Marci to be your wife?
Grooms Response (I do)
Officiant:
Touched by this love, nature yields tenderness, togetherness, simplicity, honesty, and delight. When two people openly and sincerely declare their affection for each other, they are affirming that love is the foundation of all life—between two people, between friends, and between all humanity. Now there is no isolation for you. Now there is no more loneliness. Now you are two joined as one, and there is only one life in front of you. Now you will feel no rain, for each of you will be sanctuary to the other. Now you will feel no cold, for each of you will be warmth to the other. Go now and enter into the days of your togetherness.
(Kiss, applause, hug, more applause)
Officiant:
It is my pleasure to present to you Mr. and Mrs. Mark Holcombe.
For anyone wondering, no our parents weren't even aware of what was about to happen! All but three people in the room thought they were here for an "engagement party". I even had my mom convinced she was going to the courthouse with us.
