theres too long of a pause between the chords and scales so theyre left hanging for a little while before they can start singing again. you can even see that they want to start before the scale actually comes in, but i guess thats an alright way to teach them to watch the conductor. either way, for a warm up, you should play the scale sooner after the chord to get the ball rolling. this is an alright demonstration.
