"Wish You Knew" is a song that my brother Dwight and I wrote. It's mostly my tune and mostly his lyrics. It was one of the earliest songs I wrote when I was living in Minneapolis/St. Paul back in the early 80's. Maybe you can hear the Neil Young influence? This was recorded at McCabe's Guitar Shop in Santa Monica using a Martin D-18 they have for sale there with my little Nikon camera. It's from my album "The Sandhill Waltz", which is a collection of songs from my days in Minneapolis/St. Paul and Kansas City, which can be perused and purchased at dougnewman.com. I've got a lot of mp3s available for download there from my albums and songs that aren't on albums of mine yet.

  • Thanks!

  • Yep you're right! I checked at McCabe's to make sure but realized I had grabbed a D-18 for that tune! Checked out your site and videos- sounds great. The uillean pipes are great!

  • That's a D-18...(unless it's some kind of weird custom D-28 w/black binding...)

Nice playing, though. I love McCabes! I could LIVE in their acoustic guitar room...
