When the station was closed I had to get the number 8 bus into town. Bloody annoying!

It is a very long way from mile end to Liverpool street station if you bypass Bethnel green.

Sounds silly I know, but I grew up in Bethnal Green and spent a lot of time at the station waiting for trains to go up the West End or coming home late on Saturday evening after spending time in a Mecca Dance Hall somewhere (in the 1960's). Brought back some memories even if the station is now closed.

Its open again now ;-) it was only closed for the weekend cos they were refurbishing it.
