A clip from the documentary film by Jan Bernotat, Markus Schmidt and Alex Ross. After voluntarily disarming and repatriating to Rwanda in December 2005, Gen. Amani worked for Rwandan intelligence services for two years and began studying at a private university in Kigali. However, in January 2009, Gen. Amani was sentenced to life in prison on charges stemming from the war with the Rwandan Patriotic Front (the current government in Rwanda) in 1993, before the official start of the Rwandan genocide. He knew this was a risk when he returned even though he had been cleared of all suspicion of participation in the genocide before leaving the DR Congo.
