  • Hi Shawn

I wanted to run something by you and see what you thought. I have a tough time with lining up the putts using the two methods you describe in these videos. I like to line up my putts the same way I do my full shots. I use the method you describe in your videos except I don't pick a spot. I just walk in with my eyes focused on the target and then take a practice swing feeling where the momentum is going. Is this ok for me to do in putting or should I really use the line?

  • @scott4525 Just uploaded a great video called "Read your putts right"; when you see how the ball is suposed to enter the hole, and feel it in the set-up, your alignment takes care of itself; Shawn

  • When you take the putter back I find myself watching the putter head and line to try to ensure I am keeping it square.

Is this the best way? Or should I keep my focus on the ball and trust the putter head is square?

  • @Huntster Great question! Once you have the grip and posture and the putter is hanging from the shoulders, IT IS OUT OF YOUR CONTROL!! You just look at the hole, see how you want the ball to go into it and make a nice rhythm; the momentum of the putter puts the ball in the hole; to see a couple of really solid technical videos on putting, see my "putting secrets; shawn clement", "fine tuning the putting stroke; shawn clement" and perpetually putting; shawn clement"

  • @Huntster Even better; when you have finished with setting up, it is now out of your control!! You can look right at the hole and focus on rolling the ball over the front of the hole and into it or rolling it over a specific spot in the line of the putt; what you should be concerned with is the rhythm of the stroke. See all the other videos we have on putting and the "putting secrets" video will help as well as "fine tuning the putting stroke"; Shawn

  • Ok have a really interesting question for you today Shawn. In your DVD you talk about how we don't want to start the swing from a static position. My question to you is do you use the same concept in your putting? I can't seem to tell if you have a little forward movement in your putting.

  • @scott4525 Great question Scott and yes! Definitely! See my "perpetually putting; #1 most popular...Shawn Clement" video; You will see what I mean; it helps you feel the rhythm before you pull the trigger! Shawn

  • today did the "spot beween the hole and the ball drill" .. and finished with 33 putts .. giving me my best round so far .. this drill is perfect for me as im concentrating on a target for my line up ... all i have to fine tune now is my lag to to the hole !

    Great drill thanks !

  • glenn beck!

  • He he, Shawn swore! :)

  • Thanks Shawn, by the way I shot 75 this weekend on Crooked Cat here in Orlando. I played it from the Q-school tees and the wind was blowing at 15mph. Made 4 birdies using your line it up method. Thanks again.
