Why do Tex Mexs refer to themselves as Latins?
We are no more Latin than the Latins are Mexican. Latins were ancient Italic people who migrated to the Latium region in Italy.
We are Mexicans. If it wasn't for the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo back in 1848, all of us Tex Mexs born south of the Frio River would be Mexican citizens. If it wasn't for Sam Houston kicking Santa Anna's butt, everybody in Texas would be Mexican citizens. So come on, be proud of your ancestry.
