This is my 1978 GMC Motorhome with a 425 HP Mercury Marine GMC 8.1 Liter Engine (497 CID) installed it has a new heavier gauge frame, beefed up and modified Transmission (with 1,000 HP rated billet torque converter) and Running Gear, 6 wheel disk brakes and custom air suspension all the way around. Besides the burnout power it also has a GPS top speed of 106 MPH on the flats. It is now being modified into a toyhauler with 10.5' garage area, with rear doors and lift bed. The living quarters features a all one piece (dinette, counters, bath,) molded fiberglass interior like a power yacht and a hybrid power generator to run the all electric gear without a conventional generator. This saves about 500 pounds, a lot of space and is completely quiet with it's Li-Ion Nanotube batteries that are capable of running both AC units the Convection/Microwave and all appliances for up 10 hours and then less than one hour to recharge again with the coach engine.

  • Thanks for the complements the paint is original from 1978, but it will be redone with a little different theme as well as some fender flares and other small things. I plan to have this project finished early 2012.

  • OMG FWD! I had no idea.

  • Now, THAT is a motorhome will gutz!

  • WHAT IS 1/4 TIME?

  • @acme511 By 2012 gas will be so expensive you'll have to convert it to diesel and run alternative fuels...

  • This is my dads rig. Yes it's rare but just the body is the only original thing pretty much. Everything has been beefed up massively. If a neutral drop grenades what is basically a built th400 then we got more power than we think. Yes it is harder on it but transmissions are quite easy to overhaul unless the case gets a hole punched in it.

  • I am interested in your hybrid generator system. Who made it and what does one cost. I have a GMC that I am doing, and it sounds like I should look into the hybrid system. I am also wanting to put in an 8.1 vortec. How tough was it ? What kind of mileage does one get? I read about a 23 ft GMC with 8.1 and they claim 14 to 15 MPG when keeping it at 55 MPH. What can I expect? thanks

  • @heatherandpaul2 lol i was thinking the same thing when he neutral dropped it

  • How many of those 1970's Front drive Cadillac/Oldsmobile transmissions do you have laying around? Why would you slam it into drive just to spin the tires for retard youtube viewers. Im not impressed. Take care of that thing, it is rare.

  • @hoffbug everthing is the same 'cept the obvious stuff

  • @1964corvan

Thanks.. Do you know for shure if the drums and sprags will interchange?
