Guitarist Glen Kuykendall with Erin Conley on drums/percussion performing "New Mexico" from Glen Kuykendall's instrumental guitar CD "Can You Hear It Ring?" Originally recorded on the CD with the leads on dobro, I thought it would be cool to try something different here and play it on my new Gretsch Silver Jet. Original 1989 Trainwreck Express amp with all knobs on 1/2, and the guitar backed way down for a nice clean tone. I'm now also offering ONLINE guitar lessons via a SKYPE connection, more information on my webpage.

  • man i was just falling asleep - clicking this video is like two cups of strong coffee - amazing feel and musicality - glen you really deserve all that gear! a true master.

  • Thank you kindly!

  • what is the model name of this guitar? and is it still in production?

  • This is called a Jet, or perhaps more correctly the '62 Silver Jet. I got it just a couple years ago brand new. It's a reissue of a '62. I just checked and it does not appear on their website anymore, though one in all black does. This is a semi hollowbody, with a zero fret. Mine is stock except I rewired it. It's wired more like a Gibson now, and has treble bleed caps. This keeps it from going muddy when you turn down like in the video where I'm playing it only on about 3 or so.

  • Can you get ur music via itunes?

  • Not yet. I probably will put the tunes there soon as I'm getting close to selling out of my 1st CD in "hard copy" form. Also currently I'm working on a 2nd CD but it will be a while before it will be completed though I may post some samples of it here later this fall.

The "twang" comes out in just the right parts and is subdued where it is not appropriate. Very, very nice song!

  • I just got 5 of your songs on itunes and man they are great !!! you play really well and the tone of the trainwreak express is beyond awesome!!!

  • I would lay me down into your guitar sound, It would be sooo soft!

  • @Snakebloke

Gretsch makes some that LOOK almost identical, but as to playing and sounding similar, I couldn't say:/ The ones that look similar are actually very nicely priced - somewhere in the $500 range, I think. *I* can't afford that at the moment, but for most people, I imagine that's quite a steal for "That great Gretsch sound"! :D

... I'm mostly here to drool over the 'Wreck, I'll be honest:(

  • Very nice and smooth playing Glen !! Really enjoyed this tune....

    thanks and keep rocking!

  • Fantastic tune, wonderful mood, and great playing. Many thanks!!

  • Great playing and great axe, Ive got a Gretsch double jet and love it!

  • Exellent Tune. Love it.

  • @GlenKuykendall Nive, I just found a couple for sale for around $3000. Basically I saw KT Tunstall playing one in a video of hers (Saving My Face) and I think hers is the original with the Burns Vibrato but this is close enough, if I can get hold of one. Thanks for the info.
