Time to Know the Truth: On TIbet, China and the Olympics

With all eyes focused on the Olympics in China, Tibetans and supporters worldwide are protesting the Chinese government's use of the Olympics as a political tool to legitimize its illegal occupation of Tibet.

The feudal serfdom under a theocracy constituted the ruling power of old Tibet. The Tibetan people suffered exploitation and had a generally miserable existence.

In accordance with the wishes of the Tibetan people, the central government quickly quelled this rebellion, and began instituting the democratic reforms and abolishing the feudal serfdom. A million of Tibetan serfs were liberated, and would henceforth no longer be sold, transferred, or forced to labor as chattel.

Sadly this is exactly the lies perpetrated by the Chinese Government. It is simply not the whole truth.

And even if was the truth, then why are 2,500-3,000 Tibetans fleeing into exile every year? Why have hundreds of Tibetan Monasteries been destroyed? Why are monks forced to denouce their spiritual leader, HH the Dalai Lama, and are not allowed to perform their prayers?

There are gros human rights abouses happening in China, and Tibetans are bearing the brunt.

I have learned much from the people of China and the people of Tibet. However, there are gross human rights violations going on, by the Chinese Government in Tibet, and I feel the need to continue speaking out , until all people can live in Peace & Harmony. Torture by any government is wrong. Killing dissidents will never solve the problems, that dialog & cooperation can bring. May China negotiate with respect & honor with the Dalai Lama, and look for the best solutions, for all concerned.

If human rights as a value system created to transcend national boundaries to unite the human kinds, why creating another nation state, Tibet Republic or whatever you call it? Modern nation states have always been born out of empire historically. Can we say to give Hawaii back to Hawaiians? Who can claim to be the contemporary Hawaiians? By culture? By race? Why don't we stop abusing the issue of Tibet and work harder on human rights abuses?
