[How To] Play DivX (AVI) Files On Playstation 2 Off USB (or Disc) Using SMS Player (No BS Tutorial)

The Playstation 2 console (fat or slim) can be exploited in a way to play your DivX, XVID, or AVI files off a USB thumb drive or even your DVD data disc. How? Today's tutorial shows you how using Free McBoot with the SMS player.

How to play data DVDs quick guide (Using retail copies of Swap Magic CD or DVD):

1) Create a folder called SWAPMAGIC in the root of the USB drive.
2) Copy the SMS.ELF file to the SWAPMAGIC folder and rename it as SWAPMAGIC.ELF. All capitals for both the folder name and .ELF name.
3) Insert pen drive into PS2.
4) Insert the swap magic CD if you have movies on a CD-R, or insert the swap magic DVD if you have movies on a DVD-R data disc.
5) Turn on PS2. It will automatically load the SMS program and it will stop with the contents of the swap magic disk shown on the screen.
6) Do a swap with your divx movie disc. Go to the top and select the DVD icon and the disk will respin and show your movies. Select a movie and you are good to go!

I was looking around and found a video on here that someone modded their ps2 with items that are not very expensive. I was wondering if it would work the same to watch .avi movies on the ps2. I am sure if you watched all three videos you would know what I mean. Suncin11 on here. How to mod a PS2 Fat?

@Kackerat27 Yes, I have a whole PS2 playlist that shows you how to be a PS2 king. You need swap magic to make a fmcb memory card at the very least. See my videos, they are most likely better than the rest.

I do not want to copy games or any of that nosense I would like to use the usb to play movies and such off my hard drive... I need any information regarding how I would do this... If I need to send in my memory card to have it modified I will. However, I would just like to do it myself if possible. Let me know thanks...

@Kackerat27 Ideally, you would need FMCB, but you need the tools to make an exploited memory card. How to do that? Buy swap magic (30 usd), or find someone who has a modded ps2 or swap magic, and he or she can install the exploit. Afterwards, you use the SMS player to play your avi movies just like the movie shows. I do offer a service for USA residents though, but I encourage people to do it themselves.

Starting with video upload 81 to present day, all videos have a much shorter intro, because of people like yourselves who chew us out, the video creators.
