Finally got this scene to upload, been trying off and on for quite a while now. Video quality still isn't great, but at least stuff is in sync. Love this scene, its a nice example of how good of a writer Shymalan can be, as well as acting by the two leads here.

Is the color Ivy "sees" Lucius possibly red? Being that the reason she won't tell him is because it's the bad color. Just a thought.

I've wondered that too, although that might've encouraged her to stay away from him, no matter how nice he seemed to her

I don't think so. The primary title of this movie was "grey" (I read it somewhere) which could be, I think, correlated to his color. However, she never said it clearly so the mystery remains forever ;) ...

When the movie was first announced, it was titled "The Woods" until it was changed to the village, never heard of it being called Grey though

I thought that as well, having seen the movie yesterday, but I came to wonder; how would she distinguish red from any other color if she didn't know what they looked like? Of course she saw the world in her own way, but how would she know what is red to others?

The movie mentions that she did see for a bit, but we don't know how old she was when she went blind. William Hurt has a line like "when i heard your vision finally failed, i was sitting in that very chair" right before he leads her to the shed where the costumes are kept

I LOVE THIS SCENE . Joaquin Phoenix is such a great actor and I think ONLY Mr. Shyamalan could've directed this movie the right way . Great casting !

Lucius Hunt: Everyone is forever plaguing me to speak further. Why? What good is it to tell you you are in my every thought from the time I wake? What good can come from my saying that I sometimes cannot think clearly or do my work properly? What gain can rise of my telling you the only time I feel fear as others do is when I think of you in harm? That is why I am on this porch, Ivy Walker. I fear for your safety before all others. And yes, I will dance with you on our wedding night.

Lucius Hunt: Why can you not stop saying what is in yours? Why must you lead, when I want to lead? If I want to dance I will ask you to dance. If I want to speak I will open my mouth and speak.
