  • I am looking into raising these birds. I will have to order a minimum of 30 straight run. Can I keep a bunch of hens and roosters in the same pen? I may just have to raise them all and sell a bunch. Can the hens lay ontheir own clutches and hatch their own babies? can the rooster stay in the pen with the hen and the chicks?

  • @countrybabe561 I raised a lot of them but I NEVER had any luck with the hens raising any babies. I let them try but no dice. Pheasant chicks are very rowdy and active so they pop out from under mom quickly and start running around before the rest of the eggs hatch. They don't go back and they die. I was only successful using an incubator. You can keep hens and roosters together if you also have a peacock in with them. Peacocks stop fights.

  • @countrybabe561 One more thing. My hens didn't start laying eggs until the were almost two years old.
