PRESS RELEASE: http://ij.org/about/3576
CASE PAGE: https://www.ij.org/1227
The Institute for Justice is asking the U.S. Supreme Court to review and reverse a decision of the Ninth U.S. Court of Appeals, which upheld Arizona's system of financing campaigns that uses taxpayer money to punish traditionally funded candidates and independent speakers. The case involves the "matching funds" provision of Arizona's so-called "Clean Elections" Act. The case (Arizona Freedom Club PAC v. Bennett) seeks to vindicate the rights of independent political groups and candidates who do not take taxpayer funds to speak freely during political campaigns without having the government attempt to "level the playing field."

If this video told the truth, Tortoise would only visit five or so billionaire donors and a few multinational corporations and he would have his entire campaign paid for, plus a job waiting for him on a corporate exec. board after he gets out of office. And there is a limit clean elections candidates can receive from the system, which this video ignores. To you idiots saying you'd keep the funds, there is a state oversight board that monitors Arizona's clean elections, you can't do that, duh.

Isn't the clean election idea only have matching funds only up to a certain amount of money? Clean elections for presidential candidates are not done because only a certain amount of money can be spent on their campaign and money cannot be raised.
I also think that it is important when keeping that in mind that these Arizona elections are not presidential campaigns and do not cost as much money as one.

Knowing this, I would run for office under a "clean elections" candidate and not even make myself known so people won't vote for me and I would get all that money for simply doing nothing... and I would spend it on myself... if I didn't have any respect for democracy itself or the founding fathers' purpose.
