Classic Game Room was the FIRST classic video game review show on the Internet in 1999. GEKIOH SHOOTING KING for the Playstation 1 PS1 video game console. Gekioh Shooting King is a SHMUP side scrolling shooting game for the original Playstation. This vertical shooter is pretty standard for the most part like Raiden, M.U.S.H.A., MUSHA, Ikaruga or 1942. This vertically scrolling maniac shooter from Japan has a lot of humor and entertainment/replay value with a comical mode and more. Shoot em up!

You are the lone starship against countless enemies! But beware, this game has some unique elements to make it stand out from the crowd.

Be sure to watch the original Classic Game Room episodes. Classic Game Room was the original classic video game review show on the Internet in 1999-2000, now on DVD.

  • This is a crappy port of Shienryu from the JAP Saturn release in 97. Solid shooter overall but the Saturn version is graphically superior, as it is with most 2D games. Play it on either format if u can as its a fun game. Unfortunately the Saturn version is about 10X more expensive then this localized port. Oh well.

  • Truxton 1 and 2 were developed by Toaplan, Gekioh Shooting King was developed by Warashi Inc.

  • That is some bad ass music at the first!

  • Speaking of being remade on the Playstation 3, this game was originally released in japan as Shienryu, and can be found in the Japanese Imports section of the Playstation Store, it's still all in Japanese, so it's still difficult to navigate the menus, but hey, you can put it on your PSP...

  • This game is also on the Sega Saturn under the name of Shienryu. I believe it's under the same name in the arcade as well.

  • Ports of this game and it's sequel are on the PS2 in a compilation under the guise of Steel Dragon EX.

  • It might have been said before but I think that the "pocket mode" doesn't resemble the Game Boy - rather, it tries to mimic the PocketStation.

The game must have had some content originally intended to be used with it.

Also... my freaking God, that's one of the ABSOLUTE BEST INTROS for a shooting game, EVER!

  • This looks like Daioh by Athena.

  • can u do a review for auto destruct on ps1
