Working in Tanzania, Dr. Nyoni is conducting amfAR-funded research into the use of cell-phone technology—specifically text messaging—to help spread HIV prevention information among men who have sex with men, a community that is often unable to access this information because of pervasive stigma. Dr. Rowena Johnston, amfAR's vice president for research, described this innovative work.
