Someone said "its only like 5 chords".
Yeah, but:
1. he's playing finger-style guitar and not making any mistakes at all
2. he's freakin' SINGING at the same time
3. these 5 chords are put together REALLY WELL.
So there.

The chord progression to this song is: Am, Em, C, G, D. He's using a capo on the 5th fret. To play in the same key as him do the exact same fingering positions, just 5 frets higher.

@Amoreorignalname Alright Thanks I'll try it out.

@BeatsofE I play it in G minor but from the looks of it they are playing it in A minor. So a standard C harmonica will do, will take some note bending though
-
What key is his harmonica in? I've been playing this song for awhile i think it would be nice to add harmonica.
-
@ThreeDLee09 Amen brother! The chords he is playing is C#minor G# Minor E Major B Major and F# Major and he is finger picking the chords which means he is playing several of the notes that make up the different chords so he is playing much more than 5 notes I assure you of it. But most importantly as ThreeDLee09 has stated this song is about the story being told a man who can't change his ways even though he would like redemption. Plus chords are rhythm the melody is whats important

I guess he's the new Bob Dylan or something.

@Mjlongboarding original is the shit
-
@NeurallyYours He's also playing the Harmonica at the same time.
-
@MeRocklivesforever the original skateboards warehouse vid rite?

The melody and lyrics are whats important. Nobody ever bitched because Johhny Cash only used 3 chords.
