Last year Alyssa Milano asked her followers on Twitter to donate $1 to help fund 5 water wells. I followed the link, read what she had to say and was moved to act. Something as simple as WATER, hard to attain by millions and killing thousands a day, to me inexcusable in this day and age.

Last years goal was met and then some. Family, friends and fans of Alyssa came together to give her the best birthday give ever. 18 wells, nearly 5,000 people now have access to clean, safe, sanitary water.

This year Alyssa doesn't want a present that comes in a box, tied with a bow. She wants a present that will make a REAL difference in peoples lives through her Charity:Water Campaign.

In her own words:

It's that time of year again!

I have everything I need. All I want for my Birthday is to fund clean water projects in developing nations.

Water-borne illness is the second highest cause of childhood death in the world. When water is unsafe and sanitation non-existent, water can kill.

Last year, from my charity: water Birthday campaign (http://mycharitywater.org/Alyssa_B_Day), 1,419 people donated and together were able to raise $92,568 to bring clean water to almost 5,000 people.

Needless to say, this was an overwhelming achievement that I could not have done without you. I still get weepy just thinking about it.

The icing on the cake was this video from one of our wells in Ethiopia: http://www.alyssa.com/blog/best-birthday-present-ever/

Will you help me again this year bring clean water projects to those who need it?

Thank you for reading and considering a donation. And if you can't donate, I totally understand... please just help me spread the word.

I beyond appreciate it and you.

Peace,
Light,
And Love,
Alyssa

Next time you get a drink out of your faucet or open a water bottle stop and think- WHAT IF? What if it was ME that walked miles to a puddle and carried dirty disease filled water, water animals drank out of, people washed cloths in, water with e. Coli and much more in it back to my family, my kids and that's the water you cooked with, gave your family to drink. How much time would you have to pursue an education, work, spend with your family and friends, help others, if you spend a major part of your day getting water?

Make a difference. Change someone's world! Please give today!

Thanks.

  • @chad2133 Also, I am not on a "Hollywood Bandwagon." I have been talking to Alyssa on Twitter both publicly and privately for over a year now. She truly is a wonderful woman with a pure and giving heart. The fact that she has an interesting and different job that happens to be in the public eye shouldn't negate the genuine desire she has to make a positive difference in the world.

  • @chad2133 Just wanted to thank you for your kind comments about my video. I also wanted to commend the way you pointed out that there are people here that don't have potable water, are struggling and need help also. I am fortunate enough that both my heart and pocketbook enable me to donate to causes both locally, nationally and abroad. I am going to look into doing a video AND posting it here for some of the organizations I donate my time to locally.

  • Nice job on your You Tube video! Thats great that you have a charitable heart but lets jump off the Hollywood bandwagon that wants us to shuffle our money to other countries. We have enough problems here in the states and there are millions here in the US that don't have potable water. Just a thought, if you feel so compelled to shell out your hard earned cash then please spend it on a charity that takes care of people right here at home.
