Who was the conductor?

@metraF40PH163 Sheer luck you happened to catch it the one week the rail was out. (maybe 10 days I don't recall). It was soon thereafter replaced. Last week the crossing got a complete rebuild with welded rail.

Man the trackage is so weedy!

do they still cross through downtown Tecumseh? I saw a rail missing last time I was there. I also saw motorcars in bad shap? It looks like a great railroad line.

WOW you know...lol it is so Homely to see the GE 75 still Black and yellow,I am Phil Stone, and a very active member of the S.M.R.S. Railroad and Museum. I am one of the Brakemen/Conductors on the line. lol we sanded her down last fall and primed her for her new coat of paint to. right now we are still working on the Auxiliary Generator that is dead. We also are having some Technical issues with the No.3 Traction Motor, seems to kick in at higher throttle, may be a Resistor in the cab.

Well, that's too bad the ice cream shop closed. Shows how long it's been since I was down there. It's a 300+ mile trip from Muskegon to Clinton Mich. That limited my participation. And that was when gasoline was "only" a $1.50 per gallon. I heard from a mutual friend E.S. who used to live near Dundee. He was surprised to hear that the GMDH is running. Do you know when they fixed the tranny that was fried by putting in the wrong oil?

MacowiecPl me agrada tu video, y el trainrail, sencillo de acuerdo con la naturaleza del lugar, recibe mis saludos desde Perú
Well, I guess, that stops this "thread" dead. In case there are those looking at your video to "check out the ride" The area in question is south of where the excursion trains stop. All activity is north towards Clinton. The line has a high bridge over a river, goes through farm land and "wet lands". Tecumseh has an excellent ice cream shop with GENEROUS portions. So RIDE THE SMRS! By the way since I know who you are by private message. I DO remember you with the motorcars & MCCA.

Unfortunately, the ice cream shop in downtown Tecumseh closed a few years ago! :(

3. The N&W never made a proposal to reinstall the Raisin Center crossing if SMRS paid for signaling and costs. The N&W *did* propose the donation of the former DT&I Tecumseh Branch to the Society, but this was rejected after consideration due to the fact that all road crossings had been paved over, and N&W wouldn't guarantee that they'd maintain a connection at Adrian with the branch.

2. The remaining locomotive south of Raisin Center is an Alco RS-1, not an RS-3. The SMRS has never owned an RS-3, although it did own two former-AA RS-2's for a time.

Wow, a lot of comments since my last visit.
A few facts to straighten out...
1. The diamond was removed by N&W maintenance forces (on a weekday, by the way--I have photos) when the line was still owned by Conrail. Conrail did not give authorization for the removal, and later (after SMRS purchased the line) sent a letter to the N&W, requesting the diamonds be reinstalled. The N&W ignored this request, and the SMRS did not have the funds to fight it in court.
