Sorry for flooding the comment area but I think I solved it so I share it.
.
The ONLY working solution for me was to use MPC with ogg internal filter unchecked and the latest ffdshow installed with Theora video and ogg audio enabled.

Also OGV seems to be a chivalrous idea but in practice it's still problematic. Both VLC and MPC can get stuck playing OGV and the direct show filter crashes every time on my Windows 7.

Your tutorials are great but why in such a low resolution? Check out my modest 'tutorials'. They smash yours both with resolution and quality (which in fact is a maximum achievable quality). Your downloadable ogv videos are not much better, to be honest. It's a shame.
