Hi evil dragon:
The situation which you describe is nation-wide now. i don't know where talented youngsters go to get prepared for college. My father was an engineer at Avco in Stratford. he had two degrees from RPI, the engineering school in Troy, NY. Every body on my street (Soundridge Rd.) had a good education of one type or another. CT itself was a very smart state. SHS had great teachers who helped prep a lot of kids for the SAT exam, so they were able to go to good schools.

Shelton was a fairly good High School. I went on to College and wound up with a Master of public Administration at South Carolina. A classmate went to Yale, another to Brown, and another to the New England Conservatory of Music. There were some very sharp kids and teachers there, who helped a lot of us with prepping for the SATs. The boy who went to Yale had an 800 in math on the SAT.
