The UN and Arab League envoy for Syria, Lakhdar Brahimi is supporting a plan for talks between the Syrian opposition and the government. After a meeting at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo, he said negotiations could begin on UN premises, but he didn't specify when. Al Jazeera's Omar Al Saleh reports.

    Exactly. In my opinion Syria is already dead. If Assad stays in power then people will continue fighting and dying, plus his international reputation would be ruined, causing other nations not to cooperate with him. If he is ousted there will be a large power struggle between the dozens of armed groups who won't put their guns down until they get what they want. Either way, Syria is just another Libya, which is just another Afghanistan.

    Yup Syria is gonna be another Libya if the western sponsored groups take over the country, everything will probably be shit and worse then it was before.

    Syria was a stable country before the uprisings. In my opinion, the regime of Bachar Al'Assad would have never lasted more than another decade. That revolution was pointless and only served the interests of the ennemies of Syria.Those who think the contrary didn't look around or learn from the mistakes Libya (wich was the most prosperous country in Africa) and Tunisia.
