what would you recommend flat or slightly convex for my first tamper? I also plan on buying some VST baskets which they say prefers flat tampers. If I went with a slightly convex how much would you think that would effect my shots while using those baskets? Thoughts?

There are many different opinions on the subject. I like the flat tampers but have had great results with both. After doing many shots many shots on a Brewtus IV R with the convex and flat tampers we could not see any real difference in the consistency or the quality of the shots. Thanks for asking but I'm sorry to say that we are not going to come up with the final answer to this question.
