  • That was a really great series, thank you so much for posting it! It is amazing to see how far he came with the language in a year. I think it is important to realize that language learning is something that can be acheived even as an adult and how rewarding it is to have a new world opened up to you.

  • this programme is brilliant! loved watching Des' journey! go raibh maith agat!

  • bhí sé iontach! (:

  • Grma 4 uploading all series. One thing Des did not highlight was that loss of ones language is a genocidal strategy... It fragments a people from their culture and is generational impact. Essentially what he experienced was an awakening of his cultural birthright deep sa himself which he did speak of. Taim ag foghlaim as Gaeilge sa Austrail.Des has done wonders to bring our language into the 21st century. I salute him.

  • Damn, I have to go to Ireland now,,,, My friend lives in the heart of Gaeltacht !

  • @oipolloi1 Alright, thank you a lot.

  • @MrFreshBanana

I've been learning Irish for a couple of years, albeit on near where near as much of an intensive scale as Des in this. His improvement is most striking, and for that I'd award him 10. In terms of how well he can actually speak, he would still have a good standard of basic Irish for which I'd rate him a 6 on a scale of 1 (Ian Paisley) to 10 (Peig Sayers)

  • How well did he spoke irish at the end? Rate it from 1 to 10 please...

  • I'm watching this thinking how useless I am.

  • This makes me miss home so much!
