Been to Garden of The Gods in UT very interesting formations throughout SE Utah. Global Crustal Displacemement is one of best explanations of many anomolies throughout the world.

I like tot think the earths crust is like a dimpled eggshell and each time the planet goes through the galactic plane in its approx 25920 yr cycle it gets a new "body" job from the change in em polar alignment, solar flares, concentrated gravitational fields etc as the hammer to mottle a new crust.

One of the best sources on the Galactic Equator is the original article from 1959, in which the International Astronomical Union (IAU) defined it.
