A test of my new Go-Pro HD Hero from Panshanger aerodrome.

I am aware the audio and video are out of sync. This is due to the audio being recorded on a seperate recording device than the video, syncing them perfectly was a mystery on the first attempt. Future videos "should" be ok.

  • Cool video! - where did you mount the camera? T

  • @ukv1290 I used a suction cup on the plexiglass on the door, it works well. It's best to mount it in the corner of the window to minimise vibration.

  • Hi ! Tks for the sharing. Ever heard of checklists? They are usefull... cheers!!!

  • @Meirele Lol, no prob. Check the comments section there are numerous comments about it. Thanks again.

  • An instructor and student crashed in Headcorn (G-BIJX). The AAIB report said, they 'wrongly' applied carb heat OFF at 200', got ice, lost power, over-run runway on tgo. After I saw the AAIB report I flew in a Piper. Did not want to repeat the scenario and kept carb heat ON all the way to the landing, then applied the throttle - and nothing....., it only responded 5 secs later. Luckily we did not need to go around. But Piper didn't like carb ON. Better follow POH and crash like hero than...

  • @aeroflot55 I appreciate your comment, and I know your not wrong, but it is dependant on the met conditions at the time. The POH for a PA-28-181 states the following (p.29 4.16)

"Carburetor heat should not be applied unless there is an indication

of carburetor icing, since the use of carburetor heat causes a reduction in power which may be critical in case of a go-around. Full throttle operation with carburetor heat on can cause detonation."

  • Remember... always keep your right hand on the throttle on takeoff, or one day you might have an ugly surprise.

  • Checklist, checklist, checklist. Wow, you are begging for problems. If you could roll down the window, your would have had your arm hanging out, I'm sure. These are very bad habits you are developing.

  • @ukv1290 Same to you

  • @aeroflot55 Argh people like you annoy me!

  • Very Good FLight my friend.

  • @Kmanmarr - Actually, in the summer it gets crazy hot inside while taxiing, so I would hold the door open since I sat in the right seat with students. So, I'll let you taxi with your arm hanging out.

  • @cfi2927087 I Taxi with my arm out the window all the time... What's bad with that?

  • Sorry, point was in AAIB: "The procedure was not in accordance with the_Manual but_in_accordance with the_advice from the CAA. The CAA advises that where such conflicts occur (especially in youtube comments), the flight manual takes precedence". C152 POH encourages Heat ON all the way down, and PA28's doesn't, unless RPM rocketed with heat backed to COLD after 'prolonged' descend. Two planes - two different strategies "to ensure better engine response". Not just weather factor. You did right.
