the premises of the malacca straits-born chinese association - 2 units of adjoining double-storeyed buildings located in jalan tun tan cheng lock (formerly known as heeren street), malacca, malaysia.Most of these pre-war buildings are as long as anything from 250ft to 350ft with a width from average 14 to 22 ft. the flooring could be terracotta tiles, marble, or beautifully designed european tiles.each building will have 2 or 3 airwells and also a well.the wooden columns on either side are adorned with intricate caarvings.in the fron hall usually is located the kwangkwong god and after the 2nd wall would be the airwell area followed by the 3rd hall where the ancestral alter is. note the meaningful chinese characters on either side of the wall in each hall. the PPCM also owns the adjoining building.it organises many functions/activities for its members. events like merdeka celebration, mothers' & fathers'days, ballroom & line dances,pot luck sessions,
chinese new year gathering, annual peranakan convention (home & away) with its Penang & Singapore counterparts.Its present president is Datuk Phua Jin Hock, a prominent advocate & solicitor in malacca.one of its past presidents included the late Tun Tan Cheng Lock. (footnote:malacca has applied for listing of its historical site under the unesco world heritage site).
