For some reason, I find this line much better than the Vicar's speech...

  • @Prilpril21 Ahh, good to know. ;) Sometimes the perfection of films gets to me too. It can be much harder to feel an emotional connection!

BTW, I really loved watching The Voice of the Turtle a few weeks back. I'm so glad you posted it -- I adore Ronnie and Eleanor Parker. It was sweet, and Eleanor was so lovable and quirky!

  • @sunnydreamsgirl I have to warn you, though, that at some point it's a little saccharine. I am sometimes bored by things being so perfect in movies sometimes... :P Anyway, it is a must see. Greer is much too perfect in color, but she's perfect in black and white, too! Let me know what you think of it when you've seen it! It's always nice to talk about things people like in common...

  • @Prilpril21 I'm super excited...My library actually has Blossoms in the Dust! (This is practically a miracle.) I'm looking forward to seeing Greer in color. So far, I THINK I've only seen her in Pride & Prejudice (terribly odd, but quite enjoyable) and Random Harvest, which was the nearest thing to perfect that I could imagine.

  • @sunnydreamsgirl I would have to say "Blossoms in the Dust" is my favorite film. I am not sure, though, that you'll find it (or you found it, if you've seen it) bright, but it is uplifting! The most wonderful thing about it is the fact that it was filmed in technicolor! You could easily see Greer in her best features: her hair, her eyes, her complexion. And by the end of the movie, you'd want to call her MOM because she portrayed motherhood so gently and kindly in it!

  • @Prilpril21 I intend to see it very soon. In fact, it's very strange that I haven't seen it yet, because I adore war-time films. I think I may have shied away from Greer's pictures in the past because dramas and weepy movies scare me a little. BUT, her films seem to be bright, happy, and uplifting even though terribly sad things sometimes happen. I find it very easy to love movies like that! What is your favorite Greer film?

  • @sunnydreamsgirl I suggest you do! And soon, if I should say so! The only think you won't like about it is the fact that her second husband played her son in it, not that I can see anything wrong with that. It's just that he made Greer cry and I don't like it! Some fans share the same opinion as I do...

:) She is wonderful, isn't she?

  • Clearly, I NEED TO SEE MRS. MINIVER! Pardon me, but I've only recently been introduced to the ever wonderful Greer Garson.

  • @ijustwanttosing Yeah, it's too bad I never recognized how sweet it was until now, having seen it too many times!
