@mrlawrencecraft: The black water tint is created when the tannins from the driftwood leach into the water. If you purchase driftwood for your tanks, it's very likely you'll get the same results after the logs have been immersed for a while.

@fancymanchucky How do you get that awesome blackwater tint to the tank?

@SuperRaymond08 Hey Ray, I picked it up in Minneapolis, MN at a pet shop where it had been in their display pond for a long time. I wish I could remember the name of the store... I kept their card for the longest time but I seem to have misplaced it...

WHERE did you get that driftwood?? or where could i find one?
-
@superstarboi: I bought the wood from a large tank where it had been for quite a long time, so I just gave it a rinse with the garden hose and it was good to go.

Really nice tank and nice oscars how old are they i've got two and there 7inches i've had them for 3 months and they have grown about 3.5 inches in 3 months is that normal would really like your opinion?

@cichlidkeeper98: I'd be lying if I said I could remember how old they were... But oscars grow very fast under the right conditions, and as long as your tank is cleaned regularly and the fish are active, eating well, and growing steadily, I wouldn't worry about how fast they're growing. Just make sure you've got a big enough tank to house them in once they reach full size, cuz they can get well over a foot in length!
