I took this video to illustrate the effectiveness of buckwheat to control a problem with chammomile. This field was literally white with chammomile last year and I was forced to till on a continual basis in order to get it under control. The landowner had let it get away and I spent the first year keeping the field in summerfallow.
Summer Fallow is when you do not plant anything on the land and just till it throughout the summer. Highly UNRECOMMENDED practice. This field was a blight and had the attention of the county weed agent. I have turned it around though and would have accomplished it earlier had I just planted buckwheat as a green manure for a year or two instead.
