He hever broke his leg guys. The tackle was repugnant as far as tackles go, but he managed to ride it.
An absolute gem of a payer who had everything... two great feet, great in the air, pasing, fantastic crossing ability, beating a player, touch, shooting, set pieces, consistency, reading the game, comittment, dedication, honesty... Name another player with all these qualities??
I rest my case.

Yep very reliable full back, good at penalties as well

Irwin never broke his leg at all, get your facts straight. Some twat tried to in the champions league when he went for his knee. Irwin swivelled and avoided serious injury, and was only out for a few weeks.

Great player (although I never had the fortune of seeing him live) and one of the few ex scum (united) players i'll genuinally support to this day (along with Scholesy and Stitch) Oldham legend, an attacking full back but yet knew how to defend as well, quality. (And i'm aware Scholes isn't ex Oldham (yet!) but he's well respected amongst 'tics despite playing for scum all his life...

Giggsy? Not awesome in the air, but all the other qualities, check!

Irwin loved scoring against his old club Oldham. He got 2 at Boundary Park in 1991 also in a 6-3 game. Cheeky bastard Denis! :-)
