Have you ever wondered if an 18' Cassegrain antenna will work for linear Ku Band signals here in the USA? Well I know I have, and over the next few days and weeks we are about to find out here on the VisionPlus.US satellite forum!

This Cassegrain antenna dish is just 18" across but MUCH deeper than an off-set dish so the surface area should be a fair bit larger. I just fabricated a mount today (Out of an inverted DirecTV dish foot) and set it up quickly to point at the Clarke belt at random as it was getting dark, and cold! (And my dinner was ready!)

I rushed inside and did an Auto Scan on my trusty Traxis DBS 3500.

BANG 64% signal quality on a test screen on AMC-9 @ 83ºw

Right now I am using an old Spitfire LNB, I think they were around 0.5dB Depending on the results I may sacrifice a lower noise LNB in the coming days.
