This is awsome.. F1 started in 1950, the first champion was Nino Farina, this was the time of the german domination, and when there was no championship, only a race.. But F1 can be traced in this format since the 1890´s... Vettel is the 32nd F1 World Champion..

@TobHussey Yes, I'm sure you drove a 646HP Mercedes with manual Gearbox and skinny tires. rFactor doesn't count, now try with a real W125 xD

I cannot fathom how exciting this must have been to watch at the time. The drivers skills seem ahead of their time.

A nice glass of champagne and a donut in victory lane. Ahhhh!
That would be the ultimate expression of class! I can imagine seeing someone like Stirling Moss or Mike Hawthorn toasting the crowd with a glass of champagne. It would definitely be more pleasing to see than watching a NASCAR victor doing doughnuts and slurping Gatorade!

The champagne spraying was started by Dan Gurney when he and A.J. Foyt won LeMans in 1967. This harked back to the early days of racing when one of the prizes for winning or pole position was typically a case of champagne from a winery. Be thankful it wasn't a bakery offering a case of blueberry pies..
