  • YES! YES! YES! I remember hearing this on the Leeds' local "pirate" radio (embarrased I can't remember what it was called ... did it become Galaxy???) and being gobsmacked. Spent a year trying to track it down and eventually found it on one of the old Mixmag Live compilations (still got it on tape somewhere).

Warehouse/Gallery were awesome at the time.

  • dream fm! pure class i was gutted when they shut it down

  • @cutoffresonance I was studio manager at Dream for quite a while. We were gonna go 'legal' and to do so we had to stay off air for the 6 months leading up to the license application. When we finally lost out to Kiss FM, which was inevitable, we decided to call it a day as if we had gone back on air Kiss FM would have been on the phone to the DTI every other day. We had a great 5 years on air and became the biggest and the best.

  • me too lost all my tapes off dream fm

  • Dream fm applied for a legal license, the same one that Kiss FM got and then sold out to Galaxy.

I think that because they went for the legal license they could never go back to being pirates because all their identities would be known. But sure someone can add more to the story!

  • Doh! Course it was Dream FM ... don't think it got shut down though, it went legit (which is why I thought of Galaxy) and got a license which I guess made things a lot harder/more expensive so it folded.

Loved the Leeds scene in the late 80s and early 90s and regret never actually making it into Joy/Kaos (remember the queues???). Did the Astoria, Colusseum (808state) and the Orbit was a fave until it started to focus on full on techno (which I love but the Mrs doesn't). Halcyon days.
