By any measure, the world is on course to overshoot the safety limits that scientists have set for carbon emissions. To improve the odds, a large part of the world's energy production will have to shift to renewable sources. But who is going to pay for this—and how?
ABB sponsored this Economist debate on renewables: http://www.economist.com/debate/overview/217
if it were subsidised, then a portion of the developed benefits are communally owned, and therefore it would not be reasonable to have one entity gain profit.
subsidisation from public coffers would attract some similar dividends as those from the private sector.
would this happen, or would subsidies be taken greatfully, and then the profits to business maximised

...but something has to be done about the world's energy supply! Renewable energy is key to reducing carbon emissions, so surely subsidising it should be a good way?
