  • It's alright- I like The Locust, and I'm the smartest person on the internet.

It is because of this that everyone must like The Locust, provided they accept my intelligent opinion.

    Thus, the argument is ended.

  • The amount of hate this band stirs up in people is outta control.

...there. Is there any bands that do the same thing with those crazy time signatures and rythms around? In my opinion, music is communication by conscious interaction between sound and time, and these guys are definitely communicating, fucking up the listener and doing unexpected twists and turns, that is, when you are done cringing on the floor like a baby because it is so loud and aggressive. Vivaldi, beautiful music, ok, fair enough, got that, but this is something else. I love it!

  • @jebrovah

All genres are good, except noiserock and dubstep? That is an honest opinion. I am glad the kids started listening to dubstep rather that R'n'B pop from the last decade. Haven't heard much of it, but it sounds interesting (at least in a kids context). Since you started the namesdropping train, what do you think of such composers as John Cage, Glenn Branca, Sun Ra and Arne Nordheim?

Since these guys didn't bring anything to the table, that must mean you think everything was already...

  • @Petfal I listen to and play everything from Jack Johnson to Pink Floyd to The Cure to Necrophagist. My musical tastes certainly aren't narrow. Just this genre and dubstep I don't think I will ever fully be able to appreciate as art of any form haha. I'm open to any genre of music if I can just sit down and listen to the music without cringing like I do when I hear this. Vivaldi brought beautiful music to the table. I can't see a single thing that these guys brought. Sorry, I just can't stand it

  • @jebrovah

I think it is awesome that you are a musician, but you seem to have a bit narrow taste. I can appreciate the music you recommend, even though I must admit Locust gives me more.

  • @jebrovah

You should check out the japanese band Gerogerigegege and the "power chords" and shitty yelling of Arto Lindsay in my favourite no wave band DNA (the song Blonde Redhead can be recommended).

I like music that anybody can do (they won't, though, because lot of people just CAN'T do that). Then listen to Locust again, and realize that no one can play this.

  • @jebrovah

Well, that is music, too, but a very different kind. If you accuse music of being without value because of power chords and shitty yelling, there are so many bands that fit that description, there is no call for attacking one of the most experimental and compositional noiserock bands of our times. The Locust brings alot to the table that Vivaldi doesn't. Any true musician would be awed that playing this music is even possible. And do you have anything against people with Downs?

  • @Petfal No, I really DO know what musical value is. I'm a musician. This could be played by somebody with severe downs syndrome. Granted the drummer is alright, the rest of them should not call themselves musicians. Listen to Antonio Vivaldi's Four Seasons or to Winter Madness by Wintersun. That's music. Then once you have heard real music and understand what something other than power chords and shitty yelling is, then listen to this again. You will find it is something quite different.

  • @jebrovah

Then you haven't searced, or you do not know what musical value is...

  • Goddamn it Gabe, stop being so fucking incredible at the Drums. Seriously, EVERY Locust album I hear you keep getting better. Stop it. You're making everyone else look bad.

  • remember guys...this is a crappy quality live recording. you cant hear half the band.

Good demo of drums and synth though, fucking amazing song
