  • Most shape-memory products react by returning to their "stable" state when a particular temperature is reached (for wire, generally through an electrical current heating the wire). There are also shape-memory polymers that can react to body heat being investigated for medical devices, as well as shape-memory materials that react to the presence of different chemical triggering agents.
