United States Attempting to Re-Open the Subic Naval Base and Clark Air Base

In Washington, Lawmakers have proposed a joint US-Philippine commission on how to enhance security ties, 60 years after the allies signed a mutual defense treaty.
The proposal comes in a resolution introduced this week by Senator Richard Lugar, the top Republican on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and co-signed by three other senators.
The resolution commemorates the 1951 treaty. The Philippines has recently sought assurances that under the treaty the US would provide military help if Philippine forces were attacked by China near disputed islands in the West Philippine Sea (South China Sea).
The resolution proposes a commission to look at expanding security ties, including facilities access, training and humanitarian and disaster relief. It has yet to be approved by the Senate.

I watched da news few mins. ago and it showed da activist in da philippines who don't want to re open da US bases. Shame sa mga kababayan natin na walang kabuluhan. For what I heard before US bases rent fee were pocketed by our filipino politicians. That's why da people especially in da locals don't see any improvements of their areas. The locals should demonstrate to their community leaders and ask where da money went? Instead of demonstrate da us bases some filipinos talaga utak talangka.

hoy mga bobong activist sa Pilipinas hindi nyo ba alam na ang china gusto nilang angkinin ang spratly islands. Ano ba kayo,mga pride ninyo walang kabuluhan. Wala kayong naitulong sa ating bansa. Eh, ang europe nga may mga us bases at bakit ang mga tao doon walang reklamo . Lalo na ngayon kailangan natin ang tulong ng US dahil ang china nag umpisa na silang nagtirik ng oil rig sa spratly. Dahil ang spratly ay may mga maraming ibat-ibang natural resources na sana someday magagamit natin.
